Class of 2007

2007 was Waverley's Diamond Jubilee - marking 60 years since her first public sailing on 16th June 1947.

Throughout the 2007 season various events were held to mark this achievement.
The crew photograph above was taken by Gavin Stewart on Tighnabruiach Pier on Cowal Games Day 2007 which is held every year during the last weekend in August.

Making an Exhibition of Ourselves!!

The branch attend various festivals and exhibitions throughout the year. Our next event will be the Glasgow River Festival which will be held on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th July.

The picture above shows our stand at last year's event, which was located just outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel (next to the SECC).

A Blast from The Past....

Our paddler is 61 years old this year - the picture above shows her at Dunoon during her first year in service for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER).

During the winter of 1947-48 Britain's railways were nationalised and as a result Waverley took on the buff funnel colours of her new owners - The British Transport Commission.

The image is taken from a medium format negative taken by Hugh Climie.
